On May 22, 2024, Hotel ICON made an exciting announcement, marking its first-ever collaboration with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University's Department of Food Science and Nutrition (FSN) and Research Institute for Future Food (RiFood). Together, we proudly present the ForestFit Afternoon Tea with Japanese Fruit and AkkMore™, a delightful 3-course menu available at our lobby restaurant, GREEN. This collaboration represents Hotel ICON's commitment to integrating cutting-edge research into our daily operations, while demonstrating our support for academic research and development in the fields of food science and nutrition.
 

 

What is AkkMore™?
 
AkkMore™ is a groundbreaking fungal and plant-based supplement designed to address obesity and prediabetes while offering numerous health benefits. These benefits include preventing obesity and metabolic diseases, improving gut health, regulating immune responses, and reducing anxiety. Launch Event For AkkMore™ 

 

To celebrate this milestone, the Research Institute for Future Food (RiFood) and the Department of Food Science and Nutrition (FSN) organized a launching event at Hotel ICON on May 22, 2024. The event was divided into two parts. In the first part, Dr. Gail Jinhui Chang and Dr. Amber Jiachi Chiou introduced AkkMore™, highlighting its unique qualities, future applications, and their research experiences. The second part of the event welcomed various media representatives who had the opportunity to indulge in the first-ever AkkMore™-infused afternoon tea in Hong Kong—Green's ForestFit Afternoon Tea with Japanese Fruit and AkkMore™.

ForestFit Afternoon Tea With Japanese Fruit And AkkMore™
 
ForestFit Afternoon Tea with Japanese Fruit and AkkMore™ offers a culinary experience like no other with its exquisite 3-course menu. This extraordinary tea service features a serving of Japanese Houjicha and Hokkaido Milk soft serve, which has successfully reduced its total fat content by over 80%^ and cut the calorie content in half^ when compared to traditional recipes.
 
Renowned Executive Chef Danny Ho carefully handpicked fresh fruits from different regions of Japan to craft a selection of delectable desserts, including Shine Muscat, Mango, and Peach. These exquisite treats are elegantly presented on a radiant wooden tea set stand, complemented by a captivating centerpiece resembling a magical mushroom forest.
 
 
^Laboratory nutrition test was done based on two samples of soft serve, one made with AkkMore™ and one made with milk. Both samples were created on April 9, 2024 and test was conducted by SGS Hong Kong Limited.
