Springboard for Success – Hotel ICON’s Elite Management Trainee Programme
This highly sought-after integrated training programme helps Hotel ICON to foster a new generation of passionate and well-equipped hoteliers. Running for a period of eleven months, this is one of the most comprehensive internships in the industry, providing trainees a chance to shadow managers across different departments of the hotel and work on special projects that directly impact the hotel’s operations. During the three-month Phase One training, trainees are able to experience a rotation around one of Hotel ICON’s major divisions.
In Phase Two, trainees are encouraged to choose two additional departments that they are interested in to experience cross-exposure for one month. Then, students will work directly alongside a selected manager and be assigned special, individualised projects, which they will complete throughout the remaining seven months. This experience fosters the students’ enthusiasm and determination to succeed in the industry, while giving them unprecedented access to the hotel’s upper management. |
In order to be selected for the Elite Management Trainee programme, candidates go through a series of rigorous interviews, including face to face interviews, personality and aptitude tests, and simulative assessments such as room escape missions. With a creative blend of innovative techniques like these, important qualities like problem solving skills, creativity, teamwork, determination and stress-handling abilities are all evaluated and taken into consideration.
Among a pool of candidates, around four to six of them are successfully selected each year for the Elite Management Trainee programme. This one year period of training builds a strong foundation of practical skills through hands-on experience, while fostering their passion to persevere, and rise to the top of the industry. |
