What is it about Asian hospitality that makes it so special?
Asian culture is deeply rooted in the family, and so the service imbued in Asian hotels reflects that family orientated approach. Guests should feel at home and be at all time, served with ‘kindness and giving’.
Here at Hotel ICON, we don’t forget it’s about the perfect and individual experience for each one of our guests, so you will find our service style reflects that. You’ll find the ambience here familiar and comfortable, the perfect balance of high style and traditional hospitality, exciting yet informal, responsive and generous. |
Our sense of the ‘family’ extends to the young interns you will find around the hotel learning firsthand about the hospitality experience. These special staff members, identifiable by their smart brown uniforms, are studying in the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University next door. We are proud they start their career and learning with us and enjoy hearing about their career path once they graduate. Some stay here in Hong Kong, some move on of course. |
Hotel ICON’s General Manager Richard Hatter, an English gentleman who has worked in Asia for more than twenty five years sums it up: “Confucian societies believe that the individual exists in the context of the family, extended family and wider society. So the service culture here is completely natural. It’s borne from the value of being respectful to elders.”
