The rise of TripAdvisor and social media platforms generally has seen changes in the way consumers and clients interact with one another and with us as individual brands and hotels.

 

The degree to which consumer trust influences decisions has never been higher and is clearly rising. It’s individual relationships that count, and now behaviour is on public display, customer interaction and trust is more important than ever. Certainly it would appear that millennials in particular listen to the reviews of their peers and make decisions on booking accordingly.

As a forward thinking and independent hotel, Hotel ICON has always taken the reviews and opinion of guests very seriously embracing the power of their voice through their reviews. We actively ask our guests for individual feedback so that we can make continual improvements to our service and their experience. Certainly it would be much harder to understand views without platforms like TripAdvisor and we enjoy seeing our hotel portrayed through our guests’ eyes on Instagram and Facebook, interacting whenever possible.

 

We added individual Nespresso machines to every guest room for example, following a suggestion on TripAdvisor and implemented our electric shuttle bus service (it operates every twenty minutes throughout the day from 8am to 10pm) to meet the need of our guests who wanted to travel across the harbour or get closer to the shops and bars locally.
 
With anticipatory service becoming increasingly important and as these platforms continue to evolve and get more traction, Hotel ICON will continue to watch and to improve our service and style with active listening!
