Hong Kong Sevens
The Hong Kong Sevens began in 1976 and was the first rugby tournament to attract sponsorship. The series then grew into a competition with national representative sevens sides competing, and with this growth, the tournament moved to the Hong Kong Stadium in 1982 where it remains.

Now established as the world's premier event of its kind and one of the most popular annual sporting events in Asia, the Hong Kong Sevens attracts some of the world's greatest rugby players and thousands of fans from every corner of the globe to the magnificent Stadium every year.

From kicking off with 12 teams in front of 3,000 people at the Hong Kong Football Club in 1976 to today's three-day extravaganza of international rugby revelry with 28 teams playing in front of a total of 120,000 spectators, the 2017 Cathay Pacific / HSBC Hong Kong Sevens is "Where the World Comes to Play.
A raft of initiatives and entertainment is on the cards for spectators and around the world in 2017 as the rugby world again focuses on Hong Kong in April. |
